4. 1907 – The first Rotary Community Service Project
The Rotary Club of Chicago performs one of its first acts of community service. The club calls a meeting of civic organizations to establish a committee for installing city comfort stations, or public toilets, to improve sanitation.

In Rotary, Community Service is to encourage and foster the application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life.

8. National Community Programs.
Australian Rotary Health
is Australia's
largest non-government funding body of
mental illness research.
The ARHRF also funds research in other health related areas. 
Founded in 1981 by  the late Ian Scott, from the Rotary Club of Mornington in Victoria, to support research into SIDS.  As Australian Rotary Health grew so did the vision of medical research possibilities.    
has a broad vision of health.  We are a catalyst for projects that improve the quality of life for people who are least able to assist themselves.

9. National Community Programs.
PROBUS is an association of active senior members of the community; for those no longer working full time, who join together in clubs for a new lease of life. 
Its basic purpose is to provide regular opportunities to progress healthy minds and bodies, through social interaction and activities, expand interests and to enjoy the fellowship of new friends.
