Warm surfaces create low air pressure, as the molecules get excited and spread out.
Cold areas have higher air pressure because the molecules are more densely packed
As low pressure, warm air rises, cold dense air takes its place.

Bodies of water hold heat better, so they often have dense, colder air
Land gives off heat faster, so it has the less dense, warmer air
Pacific NW: Cool, denser air from the Pacific replaces warm air coming off the land

You need: five cups, pieces of cardboard, plastic bin, red food coloring, pipette, blue ice cube, plastic spoon

Causing rain where it usually doesn't occur and drought where it usually rains
