3. Make Lasting Memories. Tell Meaningful Stories.
Problem:
People want to tell stories with their experiences, not just post a few pictures. Despite this, consistently capturing memories across multiple formats and later putting them all together presents a high enough barrier to entry that people ultimately don’t do this.
Solution:
We make consistently creating, compiling, and sharing detailed experience-based stories a quick and easy process.

Create a new “TidBit” and post
Because we omitted the social network part of our project (detailed in the Redesign section), we needed a separate task 2, and found that exploring others’ posts based off of location was an ideal substitute.

5. Redesign 1: Make Difference between Recording vs Tidbit Creation clear

Rationale: Users in low-fi testing were confused about the difference between “memories” (individual pictures, videos, etc) and TidBits (auto-generated posts). To make this more clear, we added reminders for when to create Tidbits.
While we are still calling individual files “memories”, we felt that by making TidBits more visible, users might be able to more easily grasp the concept that TidBits are auto-generated posts, rather than memories.

6. Redesign 2: Making TidBits

Rationale: From testing, we discovered that users wanted creating TidBits to be a more “automatic” process. So, we removed the part of TidBit creation requiring the user to sort through memories. Instead, they set preferences they want the app to use to filter and fetch memories, and the blog is auto generated. We still allow them to add more detail.

7. Redesign 3: Removing Friends

Rationale: In addition to the other redesigns, we completely removed the “friends” part of out app. We received feedback that this wasn’t core to what people felt was our app’s concept. However, we still wanted to facilitate “sharing meaningful memories,” so we instead allow users to view posts by others based on location. In this sense, it’s very similar to posting a blog on the internet.

In addition to this, some of buttons that require one to multiple linking, such as the back button, couldn’t be implemented due to Figma’s UI (ex. It would be helpful if you made a photo, went to the camera roll, and went back to the camera screen; our prototype doesn’t do that just yet)

12. Limitations/Tradeoffs
Edits to TidBits do not last due to lack of actual database
To simplify the flow, we did not include some functionality
User creating a new account
We created a flow for the user where they have to look at recording functionality first
Not possible for the user to edit their profile or enter information while creating a TidBit
