ELA6C1 The student demonstrates understanding and control of the rules of the English language, realizing that usage involves the appropriate application of conventions and grammar in both written and spoken formats. The student: a. Identifies and writes simple, compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences correctly, punctuating properly, avoiding fragments and run-ons, adding or deleting modifiers, combining or revising sentences. b. Identifies and writes correctly punctuated adjective and adverb clauses. c. Uses standard subject-verb and pronoun-antecedent agreement. d. Identifies and uses verb tenses consistently (simple and perfect). e. Demonstrates correct usage of comparative and superlative forms of adjectives and adverbs. f. Demonstrates appropriate comma and semicolon usage (compound, complex, and compound-complex sentences, and split dialogue). g. Distinguishes differences in meaning and spelling of commonly confused homonyms. h. Produces final drafts/presentations that demonstrate accurate spelling and the correct use of punctuation and capitalization.

You need to get plenty of sleep, eat a good breakfast, and have a stress- free morning. Underline the important words or phrases within a paragraph. Underline important words in the questions. Eliminate any answers that you KNOW are incorrect. I believe in you!

4 MILESTONES REVIEW GAME
YOU NEED: *written directions for the game; think about what issues may arise Who goes first? What happens if there’s a tie? * AT LEAST 40 questions You also need to have 10 challenge questions (can be from other subjects or about the books we’ve read this year) * An answer sheet giving an answer for each question provided. Make sure it matches up by number or letter * Include: similes, metaphors, clincher sentences, parts of speech, capitalization, objects (direct, indirect, of prepositions), main ideas, author’s purpose, clauses, FANBOYS, subject-verb agreement, spelling, THEIR/THERE/THEY’RE, definitions/root words, punctuation, etc. *You may use any books that are out and your sourcebook to create questions.

5 Milestones GAMES! Read the directions carefully before playing the game. REMEMBER: Play fairly with each other. Keep the volume down- you have a classroom next door to you. Have fun!
