processed lawfully, fairly and in a transparent manner
collected for specified, explicit and legitimate purposes
ensure appropriate security of the personal data
kept for no longer than is necessary
accurate and, where necessary, kept up to date
adequate, relevant and limited to what is necessary

3. The challenges
Traffic data systems share information from multiple systems to a central core:
When using personal data are we ‘fair, lawful and transparent’?
Do traffic data systems hold only data that is ‘necessary’?
How do we manage an individuals right to be forgotten?
How do we manage data retention schedules across multiple systems?
Can we anonymise the data and it still have relevance?
