2 Crime Overview There was a total of 145 offences between May and July This is a 3% reduction compared to the same period last year. There was a 4% reduction in offences in July 2016 (n51) compared to May 2016 (n53). For May to July 2016, Theft and Handling offences accounted for 49% of Total Notifiable Offences in Palace Riverside. Violence Against the Person accounted for 23% of all Total Notifiable offences.

3 Crime Overview - Continued
Although there have been decreases in Theft and Handling offences and Violence Against the Person offences, these still remain high in volume. There have been a number of robbery offences this period compared to last year (n7 to n0). These are all Personal Robbery offences. Burglary Offences have remained static between May to July 2015 and May to July 2016 Criminal Damage offences have seen a slight reduction between the two periods (17% reduction – n12 to n10).

4 Theft and Handling Offences
From May to July 2016, Theft and Handling offences made up a proportion of 49% of offences in Palace Riverside. Theft and Handling offences actually saw a 11% (n9) reduction between the three month total from May to July 2015 and 2016, however volumes are still high. The majority of offences in the 2016 months were Theft From Motor Vehicle Offences (31%), followed by Other Theft Offences (25%). Theft Taking of Motor Vehicles has seen a 13% increase over the two periods and Theft of Pedal Cycles saw an 8% increase. Offences have remained fairly static over the months for the two year periods, however offences saw a spike from June to July 2016.

5 Violence Against the Person (VAP)
From May to July 2016, there was a total of 33 VAP offences, which accounted for 23% of offences in Palace Riverside. Comparing the total figures for May to July 2015 and 2016, there has been a 13% decrease in VAP offences (n38 to n33). For the total of the three months in 2016, the majority of offences were Harassment offences (58%) or Common Assault offences (27%) VAP offences increased between May and June 2016 but then reduced between June and July 2016.

6 Motor Vehicle Crime Motor Vehicle offences made up 51% of Theft and Handling offences in 2016. Taking of Motor Vehicle Offences saw a 13% increase between the two periods (n8 to n9) and Motor Vehicle Interference saw a 29% decrease (n7 to n5). Theft From Motor vehicle remained static over the two periods, but still accounted for 61% of Motor Vehicle Crime and 31% of all Theft and Handling offences. In both periods, offences saw a dip in June but then picked up again in July.

7 Burglary Burglary offences have stayed very similar over both May-July 2015 and 2016 totals (n12 in each period). For the 2016 months, the majority of burglary offences were Burglary Other offences, which made up 58% of burglary offences. In relation to other wards, Palace Riverside has one of the lowest volume of burglary for the whole of the borough for May to July 2016, along with Sands End.
