BRATISLAVA REGION THE DRINY CAVE TYPE OF SITE It is a cave. PHYSICAL AND AESTHETIC FEATURES Driny is a limestone cave in West Slovakia in the Little Carpathians Mountains. The cave's entrance altitude is 399 m. Driny Cave is a complex of narrow rifted passages and small halls with lovely stalactite decoration. Typical here are flowstone curtains with indented facing. AREA COVERED The cave reaches the length of 680 m and vertical span of 40 m. HISTORICAL/SCIENTIFIC/ARTISTIC INFORMATION The mysterious hole in the earth was already known for the local people in the 19th century. The Driny cave was discovered in 1929 by Ján Banič and Ján Vajszabel. Since 1934 it has been opened for the public. The show path is 450 m long with 10 m vertical distance and 151 steps. The visit in the cave lasts 35 min. Air temperature in the rear parts of the Driny Cave ranges between 7,1 and 8 °C. DATING In 1934 the cave was opened for a public.

BRATISLAVA REGION THE DRINY CAVE VISITING TIME CONDITION OF PRESERVATION The cave is currently accessible through main four corridors and it will continue to expand in the future. The cave is closed from November till April Mondays are closed, Thursday –Sunday entrances at 10:00 a.m., 11:30 a.m., 1:00 p.m., 2:30 p.m. LEGAL OWNERSHIP The cave is owned by the state. TICKETS AND BOOKING Adults 6,00 € Children from 6 to 15y. 3,00 € Handicapped people 3,00 € Students and seniors 5,00 € If you want to take pictures, prepare extra 7 €. No reservations of admission are provided.

6 ACCESSIBILITY FACILITIES
BRATISLAVA REGION THE DRINY CAVE ACCESSIBILITY The parking place is about 1 km away from the Smolenice village close to the recreational centre Jahodník, to the northwest from Trnava in the Lesser Carpathians. The distance from parking place to the cave is 1 km by a forest road with vertical distance of 100 m, the access lasts about 20 min. The end of access trail is a little steeper with 100 steps. FACILITIES Near the cave you can find a small restaurant and next to the cave is a small shop where you can buy souvenirs and something to eat or drink.
