2 Rock Cycle: The sequence of processes that change rocks from one type to another over long periods.

3 There are no first or last steps in the rock cycle because it’s a never ending cycle. Any step can follow any other step.

4 Metamorphic rock to igneous rock
What steps can turn metamorphic rock into igneous rock? Step 1 Metamorphic rock is exposed to heat, and it melts. It becomes magma (or lava) Step 2 Magma cools and becomes igneous rock

5 Sedimentary rock into metamorphic rock
What steps can turn sedimentary rock into metamorphic rock? Step 1 Sedimentary rock is exposed to heat or pressure. Step 2 The sedimentary rock changes into metamorphic rock.

6 5. What type of rock forms when high heat or great pressure act on sandstone?
-Quartzite forms

7 6. What new type of rock can form after quartzite melts?
-the igneous rock andesite 7. Lava, sediment and sand are all produced by the rock cycle.
