7 Guidelines for participation variables (1)
Participation in formal education and training (FED) Level of the most recent formal education or training Participation in non-formal education and training (NFE) - Excludes guided-on-the-job-training - Includes purpose – job-related or non-job-related Same variable format for 4 weeks and 12 months TF3 discussed explanatory notes In particular how to use information on 4 weeks for the 12 months variables Education and Training Statistics Working Group – 1-2 June 2017

Participation in FED and FED level Standardised variables = DSS agreement on standard descriptions If a person participated in FED in the last 4 weeks, this information can be taken for the 12 months reference period Participation in NFE Non-standardised variable Draft explanatory notes: further elaboration of current LFS explanatory notes for COURATT If a person participated in job-related NFE in the last 4 weeks, this information can be taken for the 12 months reference period Education and Training Statistics Working Group – 1-2 June 2017
