2. Overview
As you progress through this presentation, you will read about 9 different “genius opportunities.” Of these 9 options, you are required to select and complete 3. You have Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday to complete your 3 opportunities. Daily participation will be awarded and each project will be worth 10 points.

3. Finished? Turn them in!
Turn in your finished projects as either a paper copy or a digital copy (shared with Nferguso).
No matter what, each person will turn in a half piece of paper that lists
What projects you picked
How you turned them in (docs or turn-in table)

4. Your paper must look like this.

Yes, these project options are vague. Show me your creativity and what you’ve learned over this past year to complete them the best way possible.
Don’t be surprised if I don’t answer your questions the way you want me to. 

6. Genius Opportunity 1 Graphic Novel
Illustrate a minimum of 5 scenes from Romeo & Juliet. Arrange these illustrations in chronological order.
On the back of each scene, write a paragraph explaining what you chose to do and why.

7. Genius Opportunity 2 5 Paragraph Essay
Write a 5 paragraph essay comparing and contrasting Romeo & Juliet the play and Romeo + Juliet the movie (1996).
Each body paragraph will explain one difference between the play and the movie AND include 3 examples of that difference.

8. Genius Opportunity 3 Music
Write lyrics/a rap that tells the story of Romeo and Juliet. Display all the words on a piece of blank paper and decorate the area surrounding your lyrics.
Include 2 paragraphs explaining what genre of music your lyrics fit with and why. Also, explain why you chose the words and imagery you included in your song.

9. Genius Opportunity 4 Board Game
Develop a 1-page board game based on the play. Include at least 20 questions and answers on game cards that accompany your game. Decorate the question/answer cards. Decorate your game board with references to the play.
Write a clear set of directions and 1 paragraph explaining why you chose to decorate your cards and board the way you did.

10. Genius Opportunity 5 Art
Select 5 scenes from the play and depict the events, emotion, and characters present. Use color or shading if you prefer black and white.
Caption each drawing with a quotation from the scene. Include the Act number and Scene number.
On the back of each drawing, write a one paragraph summary of the scene. Arrange the depictions in chronological order.

11. Genius Opportunity 6 Newspaper
Create a 2 page newspaper about Romeo and Juliet that includes the following:
Ads, letters to the editor, pictures, news events, and an advice column.
All writing and advertising must be original.
Include “statements” (fake interviews) from at least 3 characters.

12. Genius Opportunity 7 Collage
Choose a character and create a digital/print collage based on that character.
Include images and words that fill the entire piece of paper. Put your character’s name on the front of the collage.
Choose 3 images/words and write 3 paragraphs explaining why you chose to include those images/words in your collage.

13. Genius Opportunity 8 Children’s Book
Create a children’s book that tells the story of Romeo and Juliet. Include sentences and pictures using elementary-level vocabulary.
Find a way to change the R-rated events of the play into PG events.
Write 2 paragraphs explaining how you decided to change the R-rated events into something palatable for little kids.

14. Genius Opportunity 9 Costumes
In the 1996 version of Romeo + Juliet, the masquerade party was changed to a costume party. Inspect the costumes of the following characters and write 1 paragraph for each character explaining the following:
What is their costume? How does it represent their character? Why did the director choose to have them wear those costumes?
