2 Teaching / Trainer “And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, also those having gifts of healing, those able to help others, those with gifts of administration, and those speaking in different kinds of tongues.” 1 Corinthians 12:28 We have different gifts, according to the grace given us. If a man's gift is prophesying, let him use it in proportion to his faith. 7 If it is serving, let him serve; if it is teaching, let him teach; 8 if it is encouraging, let him encourage; if it is contributing to the needs of others, let him give generously; if it is leadership, let him govern diligently; if it is showing mercy, let him do it cheerfully. Romans 12:6-8

3 Teaching / Trainer Definition
The special supernatural Functional Gift that God gives to certain members of the body of Christ which enables them to communicate information relevant to the health and ministry of the body and its members in such a way that others will learn. Good Biblical Example: Luke and Apollos

4 Trainer Characteristics Presents truth in a logical, systematic way.
Loves to validate truth by intensive research. Prefers teaching believers to engaging in evangelism. Feels this gift is foundational to the operation of other gifts. Earnestly desires to explain biblical principles to others. Is concerned to help others learn what the Bible teaches about life. Gets excited about acquiring knowledge out of God’s Word. Tends to draw illustrations and applications from biblical sources rather than non-biblical ones.

5 Trainer Potential Weaknesses Bores listeners with unnecessary details.
Emphasizes accuracy at the expense of application Lacks warmth. Bores listeners with unnecessary details. May appear to be more dependent on research of others than on the Holy Spirit. Becomes proud of knowledge. Lets teaching get ahead of living. Concentrates on “pet” doctrines. Gives impression that he or she is the only valid source of truth. Criticizes teaching of others due to petty differences. Discounts the wisdom of the uneducated.

6 Trainer Job Description
Principle Function: Provides leadership and trains new members for the team.

7 Trainer Responsibilities

To teach whatever their team needs to learn. Pay close attention to the pastor when he is training you. (Remember you are responsible for training new people to carry out their job or duties the way the pastor wants it done, not how you think it should be done.)

8 Trainer Responsibilities
Give your Administrator a minimum of 24 hours notice if you cannot make it to service due to illness. Make sure the Administrator has an understanding of your duties in the event that you are sick. Maintain an understanding of the Administrator’s duties so that you can fill in, if the Administrator calls in sick.

9 Training your Team Every team has a different function in the church and the Trainer will need to know what this is and how to prepare their team.

10 The secret of success in this leadership model is that the trainer just does what a teacher loves to do and that is teaching and training. Obviously the trainer should have the gift of teaching.
