Read the excerpt above. Write down any context clues you see from the excerpt that help you determine the meaning of the word “discouragements.” Write your own definition for the word “discouragements.”

And, the Tin Woodman does things to show he is courageous- so, does he, truly, by definition, have a heart? Lion lacks courage. Courage comes from the Latin word meaning heart. The Tin Woodman thought he lacked a heart.
