6 “What does it mean to be an adult?”
“When is someone an adult?” “What do adults need to survive?” “Why is it so important to have a job as an adult?” “What are some of the major responsibilities of being an adult?”

7 Tell the students that tomorrow during the KMP activity – they will become an adult
Randomly receive an envelope containing a job and salary Use the student flyer to write down your job, salary and purchases

8 KMP game plan Required to visit each of the 12 stations
Suggest that they count their change volunteer will place a sticker on your flyer Students are required to save at least $5.00 in the bank

9 KMP game plan Only two students may share housing
Adopting a pet is optional Students who share housing may share the cost of the pet adoption and maintenance If you realize that you do not have enough money, you may return to any station to exchange your items

10 Kids’ Market Place ~ Day 1 Participant Report
The teacher or another adult should complete this form while you conduct the lesson

11 Volunteer Recruitment
A minimum of 10 to 12 volunteers are needed With 10 ~ two will be responsible for 2 stations With 16 or more ~ stations that could benefit from additional support include: Transportation Housing Furniture Clothing

12 Volunteer Recruitment (cont.)
If you have difficulty recruiting parent/adult volunteers ~ Consider using older elementary students (5th graders) A volunteer recruitment letter template is provided on the CD

13 Implementation Instructions ~ Day 2 ~
60 – 90 minutes Normally two classes of students participate - can stagger the time Materials needed Ideal venue is a gymnasium or large open room

14 Implementation Instructions ~ Day 2 ~
Set up the stations around the room Volunteers arrive approximately minutes before the event Have volunteers sign-in using the volunteer sign-in form ~ which is provided on the CD

15 Implementation Instructions ~ Day 2 ~
Provide a brief overview of KMP program to the volunteers Volunteers choose a station & prepare for the students Distribute the job cards and student flyers Review the KMP rules with the students

16 Implementation Instructions ~ Day 2 ~
Students complete a short student survey Teachers who have their students complete the surveys may participate in the raffle for the $50 teacher supply gift basket ~ The CD includes a copy of this form – optional

17 Implementation Instructions ~ Day 2 ~
After the event: Volunteers are requested to stay an additional 10 minutes to help re-stuff the job envelopes Have the volunteers complete a KMP volunteer survey
