11 It lowered the price of tea, giving the East India Company a Monopoly on Tea.
Colonial merchants were hurt and the colonists still had to pay the tax on tea. No tea was unloaded in port cities. Colonists disguised themselves as Natives and threw tea into the Boston Harbor.
