7 His origins “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. And gathering together all the chief priests and scribes of the people, he began to inquire of them where the Christ was to be born. And they said to him, “In Bethlehem of Judea, for so it has been written by the prophet, (Matthew 2:4-5)

8 His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity
His goings forth are from long ago, from the days of eternity.” (Micah 5:2)

9 His kingly work Rallying point for the return of Israel
Therefore, He will give them up until the time when she who is in labor has borne a child. Then the remainder of His brethren will return to the sons of Israel. (Micah 5:3)

10 His kingly work Shepherd God’s people
And He will arise and shepherd His flock in the strength of the Lord, in the majesty of the name of the Lord His God.

11 His kingly work Protect them from their enemies
And they will remain, because at that time He will be great to the ends of the earth. (Micah 5:4)

12 When the Assyrian invades our land, when he tramples on our citadels, then we will raise against him seven shepherds and eight leaders of men. And they will shepherd the land of Assyria with the sword, the land of Nimrod at its entrances; and He will deliver us from the Assyrian when he attacks our land and when he tramples our territory. (Micah 5:5-6)

13 His kingly work Give them peace “And this One will be our peace”.

14 But how are these prophecies to be fulfilled?

15 The fulfillment in Jesus Christ

16 He came out of Bethlehem but His goings forth were from eternity
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being by Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come into being. (John 1:1-3)

17 And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth. (John 1:14) He was born in Bethlehem the city of David (Lk. 2).

18 He gathers faithful Israel into one kingdom.
“And I have other sheep, which are not of this fold; I must bring them also, and they shall hear My voice; and they shall become one flock with one shepherd. (John 10:16)

19 He shepherds His flock “I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep. (John 10:11) Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord, equip you in every good thing to do His will, working in us that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen. (Hebrews 13:20-21)

20 He protects them from their enemies
“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. “My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. “I and the Father are one.” (John 10:27-30)

21 He gives them peace And He came and preached peace to you who were far away, and peace to those who were near; for through Him we both have our access in one Spirit to the Father. (Ephesians 2:17-18) And the God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. (Romans 16:20)
