2 Jesus is the Christ! The Prophet
God had promised, through Moses, to raise up a prophet like Moses from among the Israelites. The prophet would be like Moses in that… He would tell the words of God because He would know God. Be a mediator between God and men. Establish a new covenant. Jesus fulfilled all of these like no other could. The word Christ, or Messiah, means anointed. It has reference to one chosen, devoted, dedicated, or set apart for the service and/or worship of God. In time though, the term came to have a more specific meaning. It referenced the one that God had chosen to save His people. Please leave us a 5 star rating on Microsoft’s Template site if you enjoy this template! 11 Role # 2: King Reference Verses
Jesus, being the Messiah, fulfilled the promises of God with respect to being a King. Jesus was from the correct tribe – Judah. Jesus was from the right family – the line of David. Jesus was born in the right city – Bethlehem. Jesus entered the city of Jerusalem as promised. Genesis 49:10 Hebrews 7:14 Luke 1:26-33 Romans 1:3-4 Luke 2:1-7 Matthew 2:1-12 Matthew 21:1-11 Luke 19:28-40 John 12:12-16 Zechariah 9:9-10 Role # 2: King

Jesus promised to build His kingdom. However, the kingdom was to be spiritual, not physical. Jesus became King when He defeated His enemies – Satan and death. His kingdom was established on the day of Pentecost Matthew 16:18-19 John 18:33-40 Luke 17:20-21 Daniel 7:13-14 Acts 1:9-11 Matthew 4:1-11 Matthew 12:22-28 Acts 2 Isaiah 2:1-5 Micah 4:1-5 Role # 2: King

13 Role # 2: King Reference Verses The Nature of His Kingdom.
The Kingdom of Christ then was spoken of as being in existence in the 1st Century. Jesus is now reigning as King at the right hand of God. He can reign as King forever because death has no rule in His spiritual kingdom. Christians today are part of His spiritual kingdom! Colossians 1:13 1 Thessalonians 2:12 Colossians 4:11 Acts 2:33-36 Ephesians 1:20-23 Philippians 2:9-11 1 Peter 3:22 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 Ephesians 6:10-17 Role # 2: King

14 Role # 2: King Reference Verses How can you enter His kingdom?
Jesus provided the instructions to Nicodemus. A person must be “born of water and the spirit.” This includes active obedience to the words of God including baptism. Being a kingdom citizen is a spiritual change, not a physical outward change. John 3:3-5 Luke 8:10-11 Matthew 13:19 Matthew 18:3 Romans 2:28-29 Role # 2: King
