Shipperless and Unregistered Workgroup
NGN internal actions on SU sites

Data Cleansing As part of our data cleansing exercise we collated a list of all our cancelled jobs going back to This was cross-checked with the full SU dataset to create a list of cancelled SU sites. We did further analysis on this list, for example checking grouped sites on DE and online for additional information, and sent the remaining MPRNs to Xoserve for bulk action. Roughly 500 MPRNs were set to DE/EX. Our Connections team have now established ‘business as usual’ processes to ensure MPRNs from cancelled jobs are set to extinct. We plan to run the historical cancelled jobs check regularly to ensure no MPRNs slip through the process. We are already working with Shippers on SU site queries and recently ordered 50 MPRNs to be set to dead after a Shipper investigation as a result of a change between the original plan and actual build.

Trial Site Visits NGN are establishing a site visit process for SU sites. Over 30 visits have been made during engineer ‘down-time’ to sites highlighted during the first Xoserve letter- sending trial and the 10+ year old site investigation of the SUSWiG. Our investigations have resulted in the following actions: Set to Extinct – 31.25% Set to Dead – 15.63% Moved to/Already in Legitimately Unregistered – 25% Evidence of a Supply Contract found – 15.63% Theft of Gas – 6.25% Site confirmed (unrelated to investigation) – 6.25% Analysis: MPRN data issues account for nearly 50% of our investigations There is potential for work on matching Shipper portfolios with the Supply Point Register Sites are four times more likely to be legitimately unregistered than involved in theft of gas We acknowledge that the number of sites visited cannot be considered statistically representative of the entire SU portfolio.

Business as usual NGN’s aim is to integrate processes to deal with SU sites into ‘business as usual’. By putting the process into business as usual we ensure better ownership and understanding of the wider picture. A steering group with director representation has been established to ensure full visibility across all levels of the business. Ownership of specific SU pots will be established within our Connections team for data analysis, and relevant sites will be passed to our Dispatch team for further investigation. We are considering a suite of proposals to deal with SU sites including: Where a job remains uncompleted six months after an MPRN has been raised by NGN, we will contact the requestor of the MPRN to check the status of the job. A box account is being created to deal with SU queries from shippers, as well as any other queries you may have! We are also considering developing a smartphone app to assist in data collection during site visits.
