4. HEALING IN THE SACRAMENT:
The grace of this sacrament is to bring WHOLENESS to the sick person.
WHOLENESS requires healing of our:
BODY (SOMA)
SPIRIT (PSYCHE)
SELF

5. EVOLUTION OF THE SACRAMENT
During Jesus’ earthly ministry, one of his primary actions was that of healing
Oil was used as a way to anoint those who are sick to bring them to health
From the 8th-12th centuries, the sacrament was delayed until someone was near death
This is why the Sacrament had been called “Last Rites,” or “Extreme Unction,” meaning “last anointing”
