32 January 2005 doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 November 2008 Motion Move to adopt the comment resolutions for the Co-located Interference category comments indicated below, and include the indicated text changes into the TGv draft. CID 302 – Reject, “The TG adopted the collocated interference capability to enable the STA to provide an indication of collocated interference that may be present, and the TG believes that this capabilitiy is complete and sufficient. The need for additional specification of transmit inhibition is not clear. The examples cited in include the case when ACK is used; however when ACK is used, there is no difference between the receive and transmit interference. Another example is for broadcast/multicast. However, with MC/BC – there is no need for the AP to know that transmitter is inhibited, unless all stations would have the same exact inhibition. Another example is when delayed ACK and Block ACK are used. However, Delayed ACK, Regular Block ACK are still sent, or are sent at a pre-defined delay time. Not clear how the AP can schedule to use this information. RX/TX provides an even higher layer of granularity, creating a false expectation on the part of the user. ” CIDs 303 through 308 – “ See CID 302” Moved: Seconded: Result Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks Dorothy Stanley, Agere Systems

33 Motion November 2008 January 2005 doc.: IEEE 802.11-yy/xxxxr0
Move to adopt the comment resolutions for the General category comments indicated below CID 1274 – In September, the TG considered adopting the text in ; The motion to adopt the text failed, Concerns include: Synchronous voice and video will be suppressed, without the ability for codecs to compensate. Codecs improve performance to adapt to the links. Legacy 2.4 GHz STAs (including dual-mode cell phones) will not honor the Quiet element, and many do not have a dot11SpectrumManagementEnabled MIB variable. No provision for asynchronous MIB changes among the APs is provided - with bad radio links, how do the incremental MIB changes affect BSS operation during the MIB changes - how does QoS work while the dot11APCEntry surpression tables are being changed, and when  dot11xxxAPCollaborationEnabled changes value, how to calculate and communicate the new TCLAS? No exceptions to suppression in order to meet regulatory requirements like E-9-1-1 No exceptions to suppression when operating in shared bands - to report radar, change channel, DSE, etc. In November, the TG considered adopting the text in ; The motion to adopt the text failed, Concerns include: Insufficient explanation of the experimental and simulation results for the multiple AP cases regarding MOS scores and number of APs, offered load, station load. Behavior in the presence of more than 2 APs; note that the typical enterprise case has many more than 2 APs. Radar avoidance issues. Failure to address synchronization issues between APs, specifically clock drift. No detail provided on performance of AP collaboration in the presence of an AP that is not a collaborating AP. Reason from one voter: “I do not want to add to the standard if I do not understand the mechanism that caused the throughput reduction when uncoordinated APs are used. To be convinced to support this resolution I would need to see a convincing explanation of why throughput reduction occurs (assuming it is not hidden nodes) – not just a measurement on a single type of device from a single vendor. Such an explanation would allow me to judge if the proposed coordination mechanism would actually solve the problem, would solve it better than alternate approaches and would not –in different scenarios– actually degrades performance. “ Moved: Seconded: Result Dorothy Stanley, Aruba Networks Dorothy Stanley, Agere Systems
