1 Assessment Activities
SS2CG2 The student will identify the roles of the following elected officials: a. President (leader of our nation) b. Governor (leader of our state) c. Mayor (leader of a city) Limited or Minimum Progress toward achievement of standard (1) Student is not able to identify the roles of any of the elected officials. Progressing toward achievement of standard (2) Student is able to identify the roles of some of the elected officials. Consistently and independently achieves the standard (3) Student consistently and independently identifies the roles of all of the elected officials. Assessment Activities Have students create a flip book with one page for each elected official. On the flap they should write the elected official’s name and role. Inside they should write a statement about what the elected official does and why the job is important. Use the Distribution of Power anchor chart on the 2nd grade Social Studies page to create a matching activity for students. Copy the template and then cut out each section. For assessment purposes, ask students to correctly match each section. Instructional Notes: Students should be able to: understand that different levels of government have different leaders. identify the current president and the president’s role. identify the current governor of Georgia and the governor’s role. identify the current mayor of LaGrange and the mayor’s role.
