A change agent is a person from inside or outside the organization who helps an organization transform itself by focusing on such matters as organizational effectiveness, improvement, and development. ... The focus is on the people in the organization and their interactions. The central challenge is changing people’s behavior. “What people do” and the need for significant shifts in what people do. The heart of change is in the emotion!

IT Project Management Understand initiating, planning, executing, controlling and closing projects in the context of topics such as scope, resources, timing, cost, quality, and sourcing options Understand Agile versus Waterfall methodologies. Learn how to monitor project plans and communicate status reports to stakeholders. Learn Agile methodology techniques & tools. Change Leadership Develop an understanding of process thinking and key management strategies that support IT-enabled business transformation Learn how to plan, manage, and lead business change PM : I can’t teach you how to excel at it (only experience will get you there) but I can teach you how great PM do this Change Leadership : You can deliver a project on-time, under budget, and in perfect working order and still have a complete failure This is the hard part!

8 Course Structure : Class discussion days: 1/3 Studio days : 1/3
Change Leadership days: 1/3 Class discussion : discuss readings/videos/web research Studio day : work on specific documents for their team project, compare to each other, review/critics Change leadership day: student get ready to discuss / present 3 topics including how it relates to their project, I will call 3 students (each present a topic)

10 Want to earn an “A” in this class?
Plan to spend 6-8 hours per week outside the classroom: Completing your readings and taking notes Watching the videos and taking notes Completing your web research and taking notes Working with your team on your team project And : Actively participate in class discussion!

12 Portfolio Points Requirement for this course
700by the end of the semester! MIS3535 will serve as a checkpoint to ensure that students are focused on this requirement and on track to earn their 1,000 points by graduation. Students who do not earn a minimum of 700 points by the end of the semester will receive an “Incomplete” for this course regardless of performance on exams or class participation! You are STRONGLY encouraged to, at a minimum, do the following to earn professional achievement points: Create an e-Portfolio and have it listed with the department. Become an active member of AIS and participate in professional development activities. Attend the IT Awards Reception (spring semester only) and the MIS Department’s Career Fair. Volunteer your time for department sponsored events. Discuss opportunities to earn points for projects with your MIS instructors. For more information on the portfolio requirement, please see  In this class you have to options to earn prof. points: You may earn 50 professional achievement points for compiling a collection of preliminary project management documents for a proposed development and implementation project which could be used to follow your team project for this semester. To earn these points, you must complete this extra assignment as an individual If you pass the COMPTIA exam and obtain your certification by the last class of the semester, you will earn 100 professional points.
