1 Increasing employment opportunities for young people
Every young person has the right to an employment pathway. Our mission is to ensure that young Australians with disability have the opportunity to exercise this right. Our premise is that if A 10 percentage decrease in the number of young people with disability in employment. 33% for young people with disability (15-29 year olds) in employment compared to 71% for young people without disability. An 8 percentage decrease in the number of young people with disability being fully engaged in education or work. 54% of young people with disability (15–24 year olds) being fully engaged in education or work compared to 70% for young people without disability Increasing employment opportunities for young people with a disability

3 Ticket to Work 1,232 jobs created for Young people with significant disability 2,820 Young people in career development activities eg work experience/preparation 1,960 Employers involved across a diverse range of industries 261 School are offering Ticket to Work activities 373 Organisations and agencies are now part of 31 Local Ticket to Work Network across Australia. 84% Intellectual Disability and/or Autism Spectrum 86% from Specialist school settings 425 jobs created We knew that we We are still collating all the reports

7 Positive supports for students in their preparation for transition from school to work

School staff and teachers were key in positive preparation. Students’ perspective on helpfulness of work preparation activities 100% of those in employment post school stated that they helped Schools are key though need support Respondents could select up to three types of people. 8 Disability employment the future
Transition from school is key and starts age 14 Employment first approach: That all students with disability have get quality and supported career development and work opportunities. Blend and braid a range of supports while at school. Coordinated approach between sectors. Change of culture: Everyone can work with the right supports No matter what the disability Opportunity to test and build their employability skills. Data shows that if a young person with significant disability is not in work by age 21 it is unlikely they will ever be. Currently less than 5% of people transition from community support and Supported employment into open employment, it is not a pathway. use Kohlor taxonomy of transition to support their activities
