1 Entrepreneurship 101 JWRP Leadership Conference September 2016

2 Our Mission To empower women to change the world through Jewish values
that transform ourselves, our families, and our communities How do we do that? What does it mean in our community?

3 What are we going to talk about?
1) How do I know I have a good idea? 2) What do I need in order to get started? 3) Coming up with a plan

4 Motherhood is natural for us We, too, grow everyday
The ideas needs a mom (That one passionate person!) – she doesn’t have to be a leader, but she will treat her baby with the best care, make sure he gets the best advise, pushes him forward when it’s hard, helps him learn how to walk, understands the importance of family and support, adds on siblings when the time comes, knows some day she might let go but it will always be her baby..

5 Knowing who I am and my starting point
My starting point & Where I want to be With yourself: What are the tools I have What are the tools I need Share with a new friend and add – What do I need in order to acquire that took? Asking for help Taking risks Being exposed and vulnerable Maybe the partner has the tool you lack..

6 Idea An awesome idea is the essential component However - it is not enough In order to have an effective initiative that creates positive change

7 Idea How do ideas come to us? How should we test them? 6 hats method
Reality Check

8 An Idea must be.. *Created in a space – within boundaries *New, relevant, innovative *Fulfils a need *Has meaning – to you and to the world *Passion Have you heard of that person who had the most brilliant idea in the shower? In order to think out side of the box – we must be in one. We need structure and boundaries to lead us to a platform we can create from

9 How do I test my Idea? Getting together a group of at least 3 people for a brainstorming session: The people must be authentic, diverse practices and with similar interests Together; Identifying the need Making sure we are ‘speaking the same language’ – understanding the box we need to think out of Everything is possible – don’t be the downer.. Coming up with as many ideas as people and in turn, each person adds on top of one existing idea, helping develop them all (no competition) They all care about the cause (the problem)

10 6 hats Developed by Edward de Bono, Six Hats is a method that provides direction for group thinking and decision-making by building off the common notion of “putting on your thinking cap.” de Bono has developed six different “hats” that each focus on thinking in one particular direction (feelings, judgment, creativity, process, optimism, and facts).

12 Then do we decide go – no go
Reality Check After fully understanding the idea – it’s opportunities, challenges, partners, ect., --- Go Pitch --- Then do we decide go – no go

13 And then what..? Awesome idea is the essential.. What else is?
Taking risks A community – it takes a village Commitment and understanding this is a marathon, not a sprint Positivity Community – Why have a team? we can’t do it alone! Each person has different traits, sharing the joy, success, the hardship and the work, something that is based on one person alone has a less of a chance to succeed. Who should be the team? What do you need to make this idea come to life?

14 Personal project ID Identifying together as a team – Vision Mission
Goals Outcomes Shared language

15 Writing up a plan Clear definition of roles
