4 Friday March 20, 2009 (3/20/2009) WARM UP Time Given: 4 minutes Imagine that you could travel to any point in time, past or future. When and where would you travel to? Would you correct any mistakes of the past or change events in history if you could? Explain your answer.

5 Path A or Path B? Path A Path B Read Chapter 5 on your own.
NO NOTES Path A Read Chapter 5 on your own. Answer questions. Watch TTM movie from beginning until Chapter 5. Path B Watch TTM movie from now until Chapter 4. Read Chapter 5 on your own. Answer questions.

6 Chapter 3 NO NOTES The time traveler begins his story about traveling into the future for 8 days. He arrives in a beautiful garden with a White Sphinx there. Creatures, about 4 feet tall approach him. He attempts to communicate, but they seem uninterested.

7 Chapter 4 NO NOTES The time traveler wonders what happened to humans, since all that remains of them are these frail creatures. He thinks they have the intelligence of children and that they have evolved past doing hard work.

8 Chapter 5 TAKE NOTES The time machine disappears into the sphinx. The time traveler finds wells and wonders where they lead to. He rescues a girl named Weena. He learns that the 4-feet tall creatures are called Eloi and their enemies are called Morlocks, who live underground.

9 Let’s Read! NO NOTES Read on your own. Answer questions (on next slide) in your composition notebook. Turn to Chapter 5 (pg ) You should be able to finish in minutes.

NO NOTES When The Time Traveler attempts to ask the Eloi about his time machine, they at first look at him in disgust. What does the Time Traveler decide to do instead? When the time traveler rescues Weena, how do the others react? Why do you think they react this way? What are the Eloi most afraid of? Do you think this fear is a good or bad thing? Do you think that the year 802,000 is a utopia or a dystopia? Explain your answer.
