5 Curia (Court), The Difference Between Then and Now
- There is no more ordeals or torture of any sort. - Law still has the same importance as it did then. - We have judges instead of a king or a duke leading the court. - There has always been justices.

6 Ordeals, What Are They? An ordeal is when an accused person is given a chance to prove themselves innocent. -Ordeals can be done in many ways but there is four main types -The ordeal of fire, the ordeal of cold water, the ordeal of battle and the ordeal of bread -people thought that ordeals could tell who was guilty and who was innocent because they believed that god would help the person if they were innocent

7 Ordeal of Fire -The accused hold a burning metal rod.
-Their wound is treated and bandaged  -in three days the wound is checked  -if the wound is healed they're innocent

8 The Ordeal of Cold Water
-the accused are tied up and dropped into a body of water -if the person floats to the surface they're innocent -if the person dies they would have been considered guilty.

9 Ordeal of Bread -the accused person is given bread
-they have to swallow the bread in one try without choking -if they do they would be guilty

10 Ordeal of battle  -Ordeal of battle is when two accused people are ordered to fight to death  -they're given weapons and armor -whoever makes it out alive is innocent -the person who lost is guilty (and dead)
