Structure of the Eye Anterior Cavity: smaller cavity contained between the cornea and lens, filled with aqueous humour Sclera: white of eye acts as support and protection, very thick and connects to skeletal muscles Cornea: transparent section of sclera

Structure of the Eye Ciliary Muscle: muscles that pull on suspensory ligaments that control lens focus Iris: pigmented smooth muscle that controls the size of the pupil as well as the amount of light that enters the eye Posterior Cavity: large cavity filled with aqueous humour contained between the lens and retina

Structure of the Eye Choroid: layer between the sclera and retina, has capillary network, delivers oxygen and nutrients to the retina Retina: thin pigmented layer of tissue that is composed of cones and rods Optic disk: or blind spot of retina where the optic nerve connects to the retina

Structure of the Eye Cones: cells that conduct photo-chem reactions used for color vision. Cones are three colors red, blue, green Rods: cells that conduct photo-chem reactions used for night vision
