OSUE SNAP-Ed Course Roles Document Title Sub head 1 Class Assistant The Class Assistant will ensure that each class runs smoothly so that participants receive the highest quality learning experience. Class Assistants help before, during and after class. Duties may include shopping for food, handing out and collecting class materials, engaging reluctant participants, helping with set up and clean up, taking photos or collecting stories during class to help record the OSUE SNAP-Ed Cooking Matters experience. SKILLS/EXPERIENCE PREFERRED: Interest and comfort in working with low-income individuals from diverse backgrounds Ability to work well with a team Ability to travel to class location Willingness to adhere to program policies and team decisions RESPONSIBILITIES: Arrive 60 minutes before class is scheduled to begin Help unload and arrange groceries and supplies Assemble take-home grocery bags for participants Set up classroom and kitchen space to get ready for participants Assist chef and nutrition instructor throughout class as needed with activities, visual aids, and cooking. Clean up and break down the classroom before leaving Participate in weekly review meeting (phone/ /face-to-face) TIME COMMITMENT: At least 1.5 hours for on-line Share Our Strength/Cooking Matters Volunteer Link Orientation. At least 3 hours per week for travel time, class time, set-up and clean-up Must commit to all six weeks of the course CFAES provides research and related educational programs to clientele on a nondiscriminatory basis.
