The only requirements are that your stick figure be large enough to see and small enough to fit in the door. You can use as many or as few materials as you choose. You are going to want to ask me more questions about this assignment, but I will not answer them. There is a reason why I am being vague with this assignment. You are seriously free to do whatever you wish with this one!  Due: Monday, August 8th, 2016

5 Tuesday, August 2, 2016 Homework for Parents It is so important to me that we work together as a team and know each other well! This assignment can be turned in as soon as it’s finished, but is due on Monday, August 15, Letters may be sent in with your student or ed to the teacher. Even though there is a “due date,” I will accept these letters at any time during the year! Due: Monday, August 15th, 2016

7 Tuesday, August 2, 2016 Learning Target: I will learn about my teacher and classmates. Today’s Agenda: We Are Family! My Dear Students Dear Mrs. Burchette

8 Tuesday, August 2, 2016 We are Family!
Now that we’ve looked a bit at ourselves, let’s take some time to see how we are all alike as well as what makes us each unique and individual. Tuesday, August 2, 2016 We are Family! All families are made up of individuals. While they have their similarities, they are all different as well. It’s these differences that make families work. If everyone were the same, life would be boring. Families are also a huge part of who we are. Our family values and traditions shape our paths in life. As you listen to the lyrics of the next song, write the following on the notecards provided. Each notecard should only have one thing written on it. 3-5 things that identify you as an individual 3-5 family traditions/values/ideals that have shaped who you are. Song: We are Family (Sister Sledge) The House that Built Me (Miranda Lambert) I’ll Be There (Jackson 5) Fold up your notecards and place them in the basket as it comes around the room. As I read each slip out loud, please stand up if the various statements apply to you. This will help us identify our similarities and differences.

9 Tuesday, August 2, 2016 My Dear Students
Now that I’ve told you about me, I’d like for you to write letter a letter telling me about you. You are not expected to write anything as long as what I wrote, but you are welcome to if you feel so inclined. My only request is that your letter give me a true depiction of who you are as a person. Use this letter to help me understand your personality and your interests. I will be the only person who reads your letter, so feel free to be personal. WE WILL NOT SHARE THESE IN CLASS. I am so looking forward to reading your Dear Mrs. Burchette letters.

10 Tuesday, August 2, 2016 Closing Write your name on one of the notecards at your table. On one side of your card, write 1-2 sentences telling me what you learned about someone else during today’s class. On the other side of your card, write 1 or 2 questions you have about your teacher. Turn your notecard in as you leave the classroom.
