TB control based on WHO DOTS strategy. DOTS services offered as integral part of PHC. Nigeria is committed to global targets. - Detect 70% of smear positive TB - Successfully treat 85% of those detected - Expand DOTS to all areas (LGAs) by 2005 4/10/2019

6 Present situation Nigeria 5th among 22 high burden countries in the world WHO estimates for 2002 were 102 per 100,000 pop for smear positive cases 235 per 100,000 for all forms of TB TB burden is further compounded by the worsening HIV/AIDS epidemic. 4/10/2019
