4. Reviewing Eagle Candidate Documents
Step One inventory documents
__ Project workbook with ALL signatures?
__ most current Eagle Application with 3 signatures ?
__Member Unit Advancement Summary? (MUAS)
__statement of ambitions and accomplishments?
Step Two – Eagle Project Workbook Review
__ All questions answered, including project coach comments
__ Work done date is after approval signatures (beneficiary, troop, district)
__ Major scope change?
__ check hours for planning, counting, and 2-deep leadership
__ Excess funds should have been turned over to the beneficiary.
Step Three – Eagle Application Review
__ Name needs to agree with MUAS or candidate is OK with MUAS name
__ complete address, troop number, city, state, zip?
__ check MUAS for date became a Scout…Scout rank date or earlier
__ 1st Class BOR date agrees with MUAS
__ Star BOR date agrees with MUAS
__ 4 questions answered…one needs to be yes
__ confirm that DOB allows for Eagle rank.
__ Life BOR agrees with MUAS and insertion on page 2 of application
__ Life Scout BOR permits 6 months of active time in troop
__ References completely filled in
__ Unit number must be filled in for all merit badges
__ If the Scout has more than one unit, make sure unit numbers are correct
__ All merit badge names spelled correctly
__ No merit badge dates are prior to the date he joined Scouting
__ 4 Eagle and 2 non-Eagle badges for Star
__ 4 months from 1st Class to Star and 6 months from Star to Life
__ 7 Eagle and 4 non-Eagle for Life
__ Position of leadership is a valid Eagle position and has 6 months after Life BOR
__ End date of positon should be either the date he signs the application or earlier
__ Grand total hours should agree with the project workbook
__ Review statement of ambitions and accomplishments
__ Date of SM conference is earlier or the same as the Scout’s signature
__ All signatures are AFTER all requirements are complete
