2 Bellringer Check your composition notebooks. I will be grading them today. Monday Math minutes Tuesday ACT minutes Wednesday Need2Know (Barrack Obama article) Thursday prompt (writing strength, weaknesses). Check your exit slips writings as well. Any writing prompt MUST BE a MINIMUM of 6 COMPLETE SENTENCES! I am ONLY grading COMPOSITION NOTEBOOKS.

3 Objectives/Standards & EQs
W.9/10.3a- Write narrative to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, well-chosen details, and well-structured events and sequences. EQ 5– Can I write about an actual or fictional experience effectively?  EQ 6– Can I present the reader with a clear and logical piece of writing?  EQ 7– Can I use story-telling techniques to develop experiences, events, and/or characters?  EQ 8– Can I maintain a coherent sequence of events?

4 8-19 As I am issuing textbooks, look over the Commonly Confused Words. Work on the practice portion. Enrichment Exit Slip: If you finish with the mentioned, read “How Lobster got Fancy” article and answer in your comp books: How was lobster viewed in the early days? (What did it symbolize if people had lobster shells around the house?) How did the lobster “move up” in the world? (What other brand examples are given in this article that started out with a low perception?) You need to be working on/finishing up your rough drafts. Peer edit is wonderful! /bring printed copy Monday. REMINDERS: your narrative writing MUST have three specific events/examples that support your main idea. These should be detailed, and if other people are involved in your narrative (friends, family members, teachers, etc), there should be quotes as dialogue. Remember what we discussed about why an author uses quotes!
