2 PARIS21 Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century, created in Build capacity within National Statistical Systems in developing countries to: improve governance and policy decisions contribute to reducing poverty and monitoring Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) progress, with better use of better nationally-produced statistics Today, all countries, actors, organisations, agencies involved in the production and use of statistics in developing countries are part of this unique network and dialogue forum. NSDS The National Strategy for the Development of Statistics (NSDS) is: A reference document converting the statistical priorities of the country into a detailed work program over 5-10 years. A participatory process requiring: - dialogue/collaboration between all actors - commitment at high political level A strategic management tool (legislation, infrastructure, training...) and coordination framework Based on the PARIS Declaration principles Marrakech Action Plan Busan Action Plan Referirse Cuadro recapitulativo de los ENDES en el mundo A collective effort with strong country leadership – country-driven More than 100 countries (IDA and lower to middle-income) have embarked in an NSDS process. 4

9 NATIONAL/REGIONAL CARICOM has carried out a series of workshops in the countries (framework of project supported by the EU) : - an excellent contribution in introducing the concepts of the NSDS and of Strategic Planning 9

10 NATIONAL/REGIONAL The OECS Secretariat are designing their Strategy for the Development of Statistics (RSDS). 10
