1 Writing the Conclusion
Readers will remember the last thing you write, so your conclusion is very important Typically will be short and to the point Do not introduce any new arguments or reasons in the conclusion

2 Three parts of a conclusion
Write a sentence that “echoes” your claim/thesis (try not to restate it word-for-word from your introduction) Write one or two general sentences which accurately summarize your arguments which support your claim/thesis End with one of the following: a general warning of the consequences of not following the premise that you put forward a general statement of how people will benefit from following (acting upon) your claim a call to action – what do you want readers to DO now that they’ve read your essay? a “point to ponder” – a statement or question inviting readers to seriously consider the implications of your claim

5 Example from essay with claim: Cats make excellent house pets.
Cats are affectionate, low-key, and low maintenance companions. People who have small living quarters or less time for pet care should appreciate these characteristics of cats. However, many people who have plenty of space and time still opt to have a cat because they love the cat personality. So no matter where you live, when you consider getting a pet, make sure you remember our friendly felines!
