3 Who am I? Mr. Will Whitehead, Director of Orchestras
2nd year at Braden River High School! Violist Active with 2 local professional ensembles Love biking, reading, and weightlifting Seminole! Florida State University – BM in String Performance, BME in Instrumental Music Education Working towards the Master of Music in Music Education at Kent State University (online)

4 Mission and values MISSION VALUES
To create independent string musicians who will continue to enjoy and support music and the arts beyond high school on into adulthood and life. VALUES Discipline – the recognition that nothing comes without time and hardwork. Musicianship – an understanding of and ability to express musical thought in a clear and personal way. Leadership – the ability to contribute to the greater good no matter what your role may be.

Preside at all meetings of the booster organization Help organize and appoint special volunteer committees Communicate with and assist the Director. Represent the Booster Organization as a whole to other entities Vice-President Assist the President in their duties. Assume the responsibilities of the President in their absence. Assist in communications.

7 How can you Help your child?
Show an interest in your child’s musical study Get involved with the orchestra; volunteer to help organize an event that will make orchestra more memorable for your child Attend booster meetings, parent meetings, and concerts Make sure the director has your best addresses for us to communicate with you Read s and flyers to make sure you get important updates about events Communicate with the director and ask questions when they arise Communicate with your child about family events and after-school orchestra commitments to avoid conflicts between the two Teach your child the importance of keeping a calendar and being on time Arrange a regular time and a quiet place for your child to practice Make sure the student has a music stand and metronome at home for practice Provide your child with a good quality instrument Keep the instrument in good repair, and make sure it has fresh strings and rosin Help the student remember to take their instrument to school and bring it home Have your child study privately with the best teacher you can find Ask the director if you need help finding a private teacher for your child Send your child to at least one great summer music camp each summer Turn in money and forms on time Visit rehearsals and encourage friends and family to attend performances
