2 What is the IUCN International Union for the conservation of Nature and Natural Resources It is an international agency founded 1948 Mission: to influence, encourage, and assist societies throughout the world to conserve the integrity and diversity of nature and to ensure that any use of natural resources is equitable and ecologically sustainable.

5 The Red List Objective lists of species under varying levels of threat to their survival Data gathered scientifically on a global scale and species under threat are put into one of the Red List categories which assess the relative danger of extinction Regularly updated and inform government policies on trade in endangered species and conservation measures The list has 40,000 species and 40% are listed as threatened.

Color code each level and give three animal examples in each category. Use the internet for most up to date information

10 Project see pages Research in detail 3 animals from the red list that are different than the ones you already did. Currently endangered with level of endangerment Recovered species (include method of restoring population) Extinct species For each animal cover these extensively Description Ecological role Pressures (this is how they became endangered by humans) There is usually a question about how animals became endangered due to humans or how have they recovered.
