Give your best performance every time …..
1st Impressions are often lasting impressions…
Personal Appearance, Conduct & Court Presence…
Punctuality……
Courtesy & Integrity……
We shall HUSTLE, but don’t RUSH…..
Behaviors Before ,During & after the game…..

PROFESSIONAL.
Establish your standards early in the game…
Know your areas of responsibility on the floor…
Never Stop moving…. Adjust your the position when the ball moves….
Avoid “Straight Line”…. Look for the space between the defensive and offensive players
There is a high correlation between the location of the official and the accuracy of his decision….

Support & Help Each Other…..
Pre – Game Conference is a Must….
Co – Operation During the game…
Sometimes in the heat of the game the people who seem to be on your side are your fellow officials and those working on the score table…..
Forget personnel issues or differences……
Whenever possible try to arrive & leave the playing court together…..
“I was not the Crew Chief You were not the umpire, we were a Team”…………………..

CONSISTENCY.
An Official’s Greatest Virtue is “Consistency”
Maintain the same tempo & philosophy of calling through out the game….
Very Important to call the same play the same way by all the officials irrespective of the stage of the game or other pressures….
Consistency in the application of advantage/ disadvantage...
Consistency in the maintenance of a balance between game control and game flow, having a feeling for what the participants are trying to do and calling what is right for the game…………………
Do not split hairs…….
Did the contact affect the game? No advantage taken… don’t call…

CONTROL OF THE GAME.
Control the game as a conductor would control his orchestra, with a feeling for the flow of the game……

CONCENTRATION
Very Vital for Officials….
Concentration diminishes with the onset of fatigue..
Mental preparation before & during the game….
Self Talk….. During the game….
Eliminate all the outside distractions during the game
Always try to stay cool & establish a calm environment for the game…..

PREVENTIVE OFFICIATING & COMMUNICATION
Proactive Technique….
Should be executed in a more relaxed, cooperative and informative tone….
An assertive and booming voice is the instrument to establish a dynamic court presence….
Always think before you speak…. Choose your words carefully…..practice good diplomacy and evaluate what type of voice is most likely to achieve your desired outcome……

POST – GAME REVIEW.
Every Official is continually learning….
Honest Self – evaluation is very important….
Assess your performance; identify situations which could have handled differently….
Discuss with partners situations happened during the game, any problem or concern….
Talk with your “Mentors”
Officiating is a craft that always requires improvements……….

Provide Support to one another…..
