Write the question and answer: What experiment might be conducted using a thermometer and a stop watch? Use c omplete sentences when answering. Bellwork week of 8/15/16 pg. 10

Objectives I will be able to describe the tools, skills, knowledge, and dispositions needed to conduct scientific inquiry. Inq. 2 Select tools and procedures needed to conduct a moderately complex experiment. Bellwork Science Tools Lab Exit List

Discussion Norms

Science Tools Lab pg. 11-? You will have 12 minutes at each station.
When you get to each station, write the name of the station in your card. Ex: “Station 1- Compound Microscope: A Tool for Observing” You will read the instruction card for each station. Follow the instructions step by step. Answer the asked questions or prompts in your scientist notebook. When you rotate, draw a line separating one station from the next.

Science Tools Lab Station 1- Microscope: Use a microscope to view prepared slides with different specimens; describe, draw, color, and label. Station 2- Graduated Cylinder: read measurements, find the volume of an irregularly shaped solid and a regular shaped solid. Station 3- Science Lab Safety Rules: copy down each rule for the science lab tables and answer the questions provided. Station 4-Triple Beam Balance: Find the mass of different objects; record and label, and answer the questions provided.

Station 5- Safety Symbols: Draw the five symbols listed on the instructions; use your book tow rite down the meaning of each symbol. Station 6- Spring Scale: find the force in Newtons(N) of different objects. Answer the questions listed on step 8. Station 7 AND 8-Science Tools Notes: Cut out each tool picture and glue down to the left side of your notebook. Use pages to help you identify and define each tool. Write the definition of the tool on the ride side next to the tool it defines.

Group Roles/Responsiblities
TimeKeeper- Responsibility is to keep track of time, and encourage other group members to stay on task. If someone has gotten distracted, redirect them to the group activity. Recorder- Responsibility is to read the instructions out loud to the group at each station. Explain what is to be done at each lab table. Leader- Responsibility is to make sure that everyone in the group is contributing equal amounts and "playing" fair. WingMan- Responsibility is to make sure that everyone in the group is recording the information that needs to be recorded. Everyone is responsible for cleaning up the lab table at the end of the rotation, before moving to the next lab table.

Exit Ticket On at post-it note: List 2 tools you learned today, and what they are used for.
