OBJETIVO: TLW analyze the verb ‘hay’ in the target language. TLW use the verb ‘hay’ in order to form sentences, ask questions, and answer questions in the target language. The verb ‘hay’ is very important in Spanish. In a sentence, hay means “there is” or “there are.” In a question, hay means Is there? or Are there? Pronunciation: (Eye) There is only 1 form of the verb hay in the present tense. Ejemplos: There is a racoon on top of the trash can outside. - Hay un mapache encima del bote de basura afuera. Are there any old magazines at the office? -¿Hay unas revistas viejas en la oficina? -Sí, hay revistas viejas en la oficina./No, no hay revistas viejas en la oficina. Is there one butterfly or two on the car? -Hay una mariposa o dos?/Hay dos mariposas en el carro. There are 4,000 books in the school’s library. -Hay cuatro mil libros en la biblioteca de la escuela.
