1 Do Now: In the following slides there will be a scenario describing a difficult situation. An individual or volunteer will read the scenario aloud and describe how you would approach the situation.

You are realistic about your own abilities and who you are. You take responsibility for your actions and realize that there are consequences. You avoid high risk behaviors. Open minded Able to have fun and relax You have respect for yourself and others Invest time in developing relationships and realize the importance of doing so. Express your emotions in ways that do not harm you or anyone else.

4 Needs and Wants Each of you will be creating a list of 15 needs that you have. You are going to use the packet that was handed out to personally rank you needs according to Maslow’s Pyramid of Need. Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a ranked list of those needs essential to human growth and development presented in ascending order from the most basic to the most fulfilling or satisfying. Do you think that you categorize your needs the same way as Maslow categorizes needs? Are your needs more basic or most fulfilling?
