3 About the Contest How sustainable development can be told through photograph? Photo-Story Contest on Sustainable Development is a photo competition in Cambodia organized by the Department of Media and Communication (DMC) with support from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). The competition aims at marking the initiative of youth to youth on sustainable development and being a side-event as a road from Cambodia to the 2012 Earth Summit (Rio+20, Rio de Jeneiro, Brazil).

4 Significance Cambodian youth will understand, initiate, and share their social contents within the theme of Sustainable Development.

5 Objectives Raise awareness about Rio+20 key thematic areas and messages Encourage and engage youth in creating their own social contents reflecting their understanding and concerns of the identified thematic areas and messages Provide platform for learning and sharing understanding among youth on sustainable development.

6 Themes Sustainable Development Agriculture Climate Change Water Resource and Sanitation Tourism Sustainable Forest and Land Use Economic Growth and Development

7 Condition for Entry The entry must hold the copyrights to the contestant. The contestants must accept that participation in the contest constitutes agreement to allow their entries to be used by DMC and UNDP on RIO +20 for non-commercial promotional purposes (in publications, calendar, screensaver, websites, exhibitions, etc). Due credit will, of course, be given to the copyright-holder each time his/her entry is used.

8 Condition for Entry (Cont) Each entry must comprise of 4 photos with caption each and a 100-200 words synopsis reflecting the meaning of the whole story. The contestants must NOT submit entry, which has already been used elsewhere in whatever form. The contestants must NOT submit digitally manipulated or animated entry (e.g. composite image). The competition is open to Cambodians aged between 16 and 30 years old.

9 How to Submit Each entry (in one package) must NOT exceed 20 MB. (4 photos, one word document of caption and 100-200 words synopsis) Contestants may submit via thegreenshots2012@gmail.com or drop us CD/DVD at the DMC.
