1 Filcoten vs. Polymer Trench Drain

2 HYDRO BG is an Austrian based multi-national corporation doing business in 32 countries worldwide. HYDRO BG is the inventor and sole producer of Filcoten HPC trench drains. HYDRO BG’s innovative approach in forging new paths brings us a one of a kind product. Filcoten combines affordable functionality with 100% sustainability.

4 100% recyclable, 100% Sustainable, contains no VOC’s or heavy metals
100% recyclable, 100% Sustainable, contains no VOC’s or heavy metals. HYDRO BG uses no heavy metals in the production of Filcoten. Filcoten is completely non-flammable, it contains no resins to ignite or contribute to a fire. Filcoten is made of cement- bonded fiber, which react to changes in temperature in the same way as the surrounding concrete. Filcoten is tested down to -40 F. Because Filcoten uses no polymer resin it is 100% UV resistant.

5 Impact Resistant As a result of Filcoten’s fiber reinforced exclusive formula, product stability and strength are significantly increased. Filcoten is expected to last the life of the building. Compression Strength Drop Test

6 Vertical outlet on every channel
Rail Choices - Stainless Steel - Galvanized Steel 4 mm instead of competitors Vertical outlet on every channel Every channel has the possibility of a channel sized outlet, i.e.. a 4” channel an have a 4” outlet. Functional design The Filcoten railing and channel wall are designed to be flush , allowing more application flexibility around buildings or with pavers. Technically advanced manufacturing The Filcoten process uses NO releasing agents in the de-molding process. This leaves a cement to cement surface not found with other production methods. This increased adhesion, provides the opportunity for the channel to become monolithic with the surrounding surface. UV Resistant Containing no polymer , Filcoten is completely unaffected by direct sunlight.

7 Sustainable Filcoten is free of resins, heavy metals and solvants.
Filcoten is 100% recyclable. Filcoten can be used in internal living spaces. No aggressive agents are released when machined (Please still use mask to protect from fine dust, like for concrete machining)

8 Frost resistance Filcoten will absorb substantially less water than standard concrete. Frost damages occur mainly in the surrounding concrete due to water infiltration between the prefabricated components. Plastic and polymer concrete components are prone to separation with the surrounding concrete - which leads to water infiltration due to: Non-grip surface Use of releasant agents (polymer concrete) Different material expansion (HDPE & PP) Frost resistance is increased if the prefabricated component will become one monolithic unit with the surrounding concrete with equal mechanical properties (like with the Filcoten product).

9 Temperature expansion
Equal temperature expansion as the surrounding concrete. No thermal related stress possible.

10 Adhesion Filcoten is cement based and has the same material properties as concrete. Filcoten channels are produced without releasant agents and therefore are absolutely free of grease. Filcoten has optimal adhesion to the surrounding concrete. Sealant material can be used without degreasing the surface.

11 Machining Filcoten can be cut and drilled with standard concrete tooling. Standard adhesives for concrete can be used. Cracks can be fixed unlike with polymer concrete.

12 Four point grate safety locking system
Anti-vandalism locking available for self-locking system (Suffix -6) Unique 4 point fiX self-locking system with 2 longitudal anti-shifting lugs

13 MIFAB T1500 vs. Smith / Aco Minimum wall thickness 19mm / ¾“. Available with galvanized and stainless steel rails. Heavy duty rails, twice as (thick – 4mm vs. 2mm) strong as Aco. Load Class E Four point fiX self locking device – no locking bar in the hydraulic section like the quick lock of Aco. Less than ¾“ wall thickness. Light duty rails for loading class up to C250kN/1162psi only. However Aco also provides gratings up to cl.E600kN/2788psi Quick lock 1 point locking for grating section with capacity limiting bar in hydraulic section. Up to 30% interference depending on the height of the channel.

14 MIFAB T1500 vs. Polydrain Locking bar 04.04.2019
Minimum wall thickness 19mm / ¾“. Heavy duty galvanized or stainless steel rail. Same surface design with metallic materials on exposed surface. Up to Load Class E. Four point fiX self-locking system. Sealant joints are standard feature. Minimum wall thickness 12mm / 1/20“. No edge protecting steel rails for medium loads. Polymer edge can withstand load class up to Class B125kN/581psi only. Expoesd Polymer concrete edge is not UV resistant and will deterioriate over time. No self-locking devices available. Locking bar reduces substantially the hydraulic section by up to 30% depending on the height of the channel. Red dot locking is not waterproof. No sealant joint available.

15 MIFAB T1500 vs. Polydrain with frame
Ductile iron and galvanzied steel grating fits in the steel rail channel. Up to Load Class E. Four point fiX self-locking system or bolted locking available. Frame is not mechanically connected to the channel body. Installation with black top is not suitable. Frame can slide on channel in case of heavy longitudinal brake forces. Connecting point between anchor lugs and frame will cause cracks in concrete due to thin layer of covering surface.
