1. We Implemented Meteorological Data & Idea-Thon / Hack-a-Thon  ⇒ We implement an Application Contest in 2013! 2. We Implemented Symposium on Open Data  ⇒ We implement it in 2013 as well. (Today)! 3. We Implemented Commendation at the Committee’s Discretion  ⇒ We implement it in 2013 as well! 4. We Implemented Information Dissemination and Share through Committee Meetings and Webpage  ⇒ We make efforts in information dissemination overseas as well in 2013!

5 1. Strengthening of Information Dissemination Overseas
・ Bilingual Ustream Webcast (Japanese / English) of the Symposium ・Introduction of Japanese Approach to Open Data in the “Internet Governance Forum” (Oct , 2013) (Photo Lower Right) ・Inauguration of the English Webpage of the Consortium. 1. Open Data Application Contest ・ Implementation of Application Development Contest Making Use of Open Data Provided by 7 Verification Tests to be Conducted by the Communications Ministry! 2. Social Issue Resolution Type Idea-Thon / Use Case Contest ・This is joint organization by METI and Ministry of Communications. ・Idea-Thons were held in Osaka (Nov. 9), Tokyo (Nov. 21), and Matsue (Nov. 26)! ・As for Use Case Contest, the pamphlets are distributed at the reception of this symposium!We hope you will participate! 3. Commendation at the Committee’s Discretion ・Excellent approaches to open data will be awarded prize at the Committee’s discretion again this year! General Comment on Commendation at the Committee’s Discretion Last Year (by the Chief Juror) Attributes of awardees this time are really diverse including Ministry, Prefecture, big city, local city, town, enterprise, laboratory of university, NPO, voluntary group, etc. Prize awarding with such a great variety of awardees is really rare. Participating members of awardees this time started the work with a pure public spirit and enthusiasm. I hope, thanks to the efforts of these people, open data could gain respects from people, and also open up perspective for creation of new businesses. 4. Support of Open-Data-Related Events ・We will support various kinds of events this year again! ・Open Government Summit Meeting (Held at Sabae City, Supported by Us, ) ・International Open Data Day in Japan 2014 (Held at Various Venues in Japan, to be Supported by Us, ), etc. Scene of International Open Data Day Last Year Source :

10 3. Sub-Committee for Local Authorities
・Based on the results of the questionnaire survey of the Consortium members, and advanced examples such as the Verification Test for Local Authorities’ Administrative Information by the Communications Ministry (in collaboration with Cities of Yokohama and Sabae) and the Open Data Project of Villages, Towns and Cities of Fukui Prefecture, we get to know the pros and cons of local authorities as well as challenges. ・The result of which is to be incorporated to the Open Data Manual for Public Servants to be considered by the Communications Ministry’s Verification Test, Data Governance Committee and Technical Committee in the Fiscal 2013. ・The current membership of the Local Authorities Sub-Committee is as below.
