2 Safety Adviser with Chemical Engineering Description
Every organisation needs Safety advisers. Their primary role is to help prevent accidents, injuries and health problems in the workplace and ensure site activities do not have a negative impact on the Environment. This apprenticeship is designed to develop you to a level that will enable you to offer advice and guidance within a chemical manufacturing arena. The training offers high level qualifications, backed up by hands on experience within a blue chip organisation. You will spend time gaining an understanding of our manufacturing plants, product testing laboratories, engineering and utilities departments, and our waste water treatment facility. You will learn how we deal with emergency situations, how we manage change and how risks are minimised. You will be involved in improvement projects, carry out audits and support day to day activities across the site. As part of the apprentice group on site, you will also have opportunities to network with people doing similar apprenticeships across the UK, learn about teamwork and improve your communication skills. By the end of the three and a half programme, you will have worked towards qualifications including SVQ in Health & Safety, HNC/D in Petrochemical Operations (3 days per week at Forth valley college (year 1 and 3) NEBOSH certificate (year 2) Modern Apprentice Award. This will open up career opportunities within health & safety, chemical engineering, laboratory and manufacturing for the successful candidate. Entry Qualifications: Minimum of 5 Scottish standard grades (or equivalent) at 3 (general)/National 4 or above - must include Maths, English and a science subject. 3 Engineering Apprenticeships
What can you expect... You will spend time in manufacturing where you will learn to operate and maintain production equipment, carry out routine maintenance, diagnose and deal with breakdowns and help design, test and install new equipment. Duration : 4 Years Year Full time residential study at Forth Valley College studying NC in Engineering and PEO2 - Performing Engineering Operations. Years 2 & 3 One day per week at Forth Valley College studying for HNC in Engineering On the-job training in the workplace studying and SVQ level 3 to complete their modern apprenticeship Year Full time on site gaining valuable on the job experience towards MA Entry Qualifications: Minimum of 5 Scottish standard grades including a 2 (credit)/ National 5 or above in Maths, a 3 (general)/ National 4 or above in English plus a Science subject and two others. 4 Manufacturing Apprenticeships
What can you expect... You will receive training on plant operations for the manufacture of pharmaceutical products and all relevant safety training. Duration : 3 Years Year 1 Full time study at Ayrshire College (Kilmarnock) HNC in Engineering Practice Manufacturing and SVQ Level 2 Years 2 & 3 One day a week with tutor on-site City & Guilds in Process Technology Level 3 Plus on-the-job training studying for SVQ Level 3 in Manufacturing Entry Qualifications: Minimum of five Scottish credit/general standard grades/ National 4/5 or equivalent or above, including Maths, English and Science One higher grade (or equivalent), preferably in a Maths or a Science subject For more information and to apply, go to
