Key terms: sexual intercourse, implantation and pregnancy All: I can describe how a woman becomes pregnant after fertilisation and correctly use the term implantation. Most: I can recall the names and functions of the structures surrounding the development of the foetus. Some: I can describe how identical and non-identical twins occur and describe how materials are supplied and removed from the foetus. 3 Key definitions: Sexual intercourse: or ‘making love’, ‘having sex, during which the semen is ejaculated into the end of the vagina. Implantation: when an embryo sinks into the lining of the uterus. Pregnant: when a female animal has an embryo growing inside her uterus.
