HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU WORK? HOW MANY HOURS DO YOU GET PAID TO WORK? IS YOUR WORK SHEDULE FLEXIBLE? HOW MANY HOURS WHERE YOU ABSENT FROM WORK? PARTLY OR ON A FULL TIME SCALE? ARE YOU ACTIVE IN THE BLACK ECONOMY? DO YOU DO VOLUNTARY WORK? LABOR FORCE SURVEY REGISTER BASED WORKING TIME ACCOUNT

4 SURVEY AND REGISTER BASED
The Labor Force Survey Contractual (in most cases 37 hours per week) Normal (can include overtime paid or unpaid) Actual (in the reference week, absence and flexible work hours) The reserve army The Register Based Working Time Account Performed, registered and paid working hours Used in NA to calculate average number of employed and total number of performed working hours in the reference period

9 WORKING TIME DATA ARE IMPORTANT
There is a huge user demand There is focus on: Productivity Work life/family life balance Labor supply The multisource approach has some advantages: LFS has information on ‘the reserve army’ The working time account can give you very detailed information on paid working hours in different parts of the economy, on educational background on geography and on gender
