1 Modified Fullerene Vesicles and Membranes,
Supra-molecular Structures, Dynamics and Interactions Benjamin Chu, Chemistry Department, Stony Brook University, PRF-38948AC Modified fullerene surfactants show a rich aggregation behavior in aqueous solution, often forming spherical vesicles composed of bilayer membranes, than can be studied by static and dynamic light scattering. Fullerene surfactant are amphiphilic molecules with charged head groups that can form complexes with other charged compounds, especially with polyelectrolytes including DNA. Fullerene surfactant-DNA complexes are important candidates for gene delivery applications, providing a lower toxicity alternative compared to traditional chain-based cationic surfactants.
