1 Astros Win 1st-Ever World Series Title

2 The Houston Astros waited 55 years for a World Series championship and finally did it, defeating Los Angeles four games to three. Houston went on the road to earn a 5-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers in Wednesday night's Game 7 at Dodger Stadium, concluding one of the most thrilling Fall Classics in history. A big reason for the victory was because of World Series MVP George Springer, who hit his fifth homer of the series and his fourth in as many games. Just four seasons ago, Houston won 51 games. From , the Astros never won more than 56 games. Originated in 1962 as the Houston Colt .45s, the Astros have spent nearly their entire existence out of playoff contention. They'd made just one postseason appearance since 2005 and won only four playoff series in their existence before the 2017 playoffs.

3 In Other News Two men and a woman were killed Wednesday night during a shooting at a Walmart Supercenter in the Denver suburb of Thornton. Authorities are looking for a man they said entered the store and randomly fired a handgun near the cash register, striking three people. The CIA on Wednesday announced it released a massive set of files it said came from the Osama bin Laden raid in mong them: the deceased al Qaeda founder's personal journal. CIA Director Mike Pompeo said the release "provides the opportunity for the American people to gain further insights into the plans and workings of this terrorist organization.” The release came in accordance with a 2014 appropriations bill for intelligence activity that required the Director of National Intelligence to review documents obtained from the raid, and make the files it declassified from the review available to the public.
