Habit 1 - Be Proactive Take responsibility for your life and ownership for your decisions. Opposite habit (or defective habit) would be to blame problems on other parties in your life (parents, siblings, teachers, etc.) Ex. When someone yells - yell back OR if you’re bored make trouble Habit 2 - Begin with the END in Mind Define you mission and goals in life Opposite habit (or defective habit) would be to not have a plan; never think about tomorrow and/or consequences. Habit 3 - Put First things FIRST! Prioritize and do the most important things FIRST! Opposite habit (or defective habit) would be avoid important things. Ex. Engage in social media endlessly watching video, texting or lounging; avoid studying and preparation, etc. Habit 4 - Think Win-Win Have an everyone can win attitude Growth Mindset vs. fixed! Opposite habit (or defective habit) would be to think win-lose. Ex. Approaching life as a competition in which the other party must lose; fixed mindset. Habit 5 - Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood Listen to people sincerely Opposite habit (or defective habit) would be to seek first to TALK, then to pretend to listen Ex. Always expressing YOUR side of the story (while thinking it is the most important) or zoning out while others share opinion and information. Habit 6 - Synergize Work together to cooperate and collaborate - to achieve more. Opposite habit (or defective habit) would be to not cooperate and become isolated. Ex. Do not see the value in collaboration or teamwork Habit 7 - Sharpen the Saw Renew yourself regularly Opposite habit (or defective habit) would be to wear yourself out such that you are too busy to: learn a new skill, renew or improve yourself, study, exercise, etc.
