Consider JQ, TV & Radio, Social Media (Twitter/Facebook) Branding, image, consistency in message. Acceleration of technology – not easy to keep pace. Will tie in with the ‘Year of the Justice of the Peace’ in 2014

4 Service Centres Draft guidelines for best practice have been circulated Federation is in discussion with other agencies to ensure consistency and professionalism at all times. Now over 200 Service Centre days listed on the website. Poor performance reflects unfavourably on all of us.

5 Security Be vigilant Don’t accept unreasonable behaviour
Report anything untoward to the Police and your association registrar.

6 Statistics Federation will begin preparing the triennial funding bid next year We must have all your up to date returns to include in the application. The current services agreement and the funding bid that preceded it are available to all members on the website.

7 JP Registry Officers Trial in West Auckland to run for 6 months to a year. 30min Registry Weddings. 6 JP Registry Officers have been appointed for the trial. May be expanded if trial proves worthwhile. Not to be confused with Marriage Celebrant ceremonies.

8 Criminal Procedure Act (CPA)
Changes to categories of offences Changes in the way procedures are carried out – allows for the Electronic Operating Model (EOM) to be established. Changes in terminology. The project regarding the new Judicial Studies course development is underway but no firm decisions yet and the content, delivery or timetable.

9 Other implications of courts re-structuring
Issuing Officers – feast or famine, need to stay current. Consider a rotational roster of IOs for Police if appropriate. Joint Court interviews and swearing-in of new JPs – need to liaise with Regional Courts Service Delivery Manager where this is an issue. 10 Succession Planning Crucial in all aspects of the running an association not just the court panel. What’s best for the organisation – how best might my efforts benefit the association? Mentoring and nurturing are essential.
