1 What is Inertia? The tendency of all objects to resist any change in motion. An object at rest will stay at rest unless a force causes it to move An object in motion will stay in motion unless a force causes it to stop.

2 How does mass affect inertia?
More mass = more inertia *HARDER to start or stop an object Less mass = Less inertia *Easier to start or stop an object

3 Penny Activity Describe what we did: Placed a penny on top of an index card and attempted to “flick” only the card. The penny should stay in place on your finger. Describe what it indicates about inertia: Objects at rest want to stay at rest. A quarter would be easier to test because it has more mass and therefore, more inertia.
